Disney Interactive Nukes Lots of Apps, Games

Disney Interactive Nukes Lots of Apps, Games.

When It Rains, It Pours—Especially If You’re An Mobile Gaming Fan Who Likes Playing All Sorts Of Disney Interactive Games On Your IPad, IPhone, Or Android Device.

Old As They Might Be, We’re Still Big Fans Of Games Like The Monkey Island Series, And Even Star Wars: Tiny Death Star—Though We’re Proud To Have Not Spent A Single Dollar On That One. We’re Even More Proud Now, Since Disney Interactive Has Pulled Tiny Death Star, And Many Other Titles, From Apple’s App Store (And Others).

“Although The Decision Was Difficult To Make, This Will Allow Us To Focus On Building New And More Engaging Games. Some Of These Titles May Still Be Available For Download And Playable; However There Are No Plans For Future Updates And Active Product Support Will No Longer Be Provided. We Appreciate Your Support And Understanding,” Reads A Blog Post From Disney Interactive.

“Please Note That Disney Interactive Is Not Responsible For Providing Refunds Or Credits For Any Virtual Items, In-Game Currency, Or Other Items That May No Longer Be Available Once A Game Is Shut Down.”

That Last Bit Is The Most Important Part, Because It Means That Any Frustrations You Might Have After Spending A Hundred Bucks On Little In-Game Currency Items For, Say, Tiny Death Star Are Yours To Bear Alone. Disney Isn’t Going To Give You A Dime For Your Purchases. Worse, You Are Probably Going To Want To Hold Onto Your IPhone Or IPad For Some Time If You Really Blew A Lot Of Money On That, Or Any Other Games That Disney Interactive Is Retiring.

While Some Of The Games On Disney Interactive’s Comprehensive List Might Still Be Available For Download From The App Store Or Google Play, Some Have Officially Disappeared (Like Tiny Death Star). And Here’s The Big Kicker: Even If You’ve Already Downloaded Them, Or Even Spent Money And Purchased Them, You Will Be Unable To Re-Download Them In The Event That You Delete (Or Lose) The App On Your Particular Device. When They Are Gone, They Are Literally Gone If You Ever Remove The Physical Data On Your Device.

You Can Get Around The Issue, As AppAdvice Notes, By Setting Your Mac Or PC’s ITunes To Automatically Download Any Apps That You Purchase From The App Store Going Forward. And There Are A Few More Options To Pick From If You’re An Android Fan. None Will Help You Out With The Apps That Were Just Removed, But You’ll At Least Be Able To Save A Copy On Your Laptop Or Desktop In Addition To Your Smartphone Or Tablet, Just In Case Something Happens To Any Of Them.

That Probably Won’t Thrill Too Many People Who Paid For An (Admittedly Older) App That They Have Since Lost Access To, But It’s Something.
